Corsa B 1.2 SXI Project

Post by Serapth »

I bought this last month after spending ages looking for a clean, stock example of late corsa b sxi.

Image

First of all i got a badgless grill and smoked side repeaters
Image

Then dropped it 40mm.. didnt want to go too low as im only planning subtle mods and want to keep it looking as stock as possible
Image

Refurbished all the wheels and had them painted in superfine audi silver then satin black for the vauxhall badges in the centres
Image

I chopped the exit pipe off with an angle grinder and then welded a piece of 2 1/2 inch stainless pipe in its place, though there is no difference in sound it does look better.

At the weekend i spent all saturday detailing the car, clay barred every panel then G3 followed by 3M finnesse it then 3M machine glaze with a softpad to get the paintwork how i wanted it.Debadged the boot apart from the 16v badge and removed the sxi badges from the door. Treated the arches with a sealant to bring them as close to factory black as i could get them then sealed all the paintwork with C2 and then gave it a couple of coats of autosmarts "wax" This is how the car looks now.

White led kit was delivered the other day too so ive fitted most of them bar the heater controls... which look like a bloody nightmare to do

And thats the progress so far.

Still plan to do the following mods:

Retrim headlining & pillar covers in black suede
Retrim the original seats & door cards in black leather
Fit gsi side skirts and steering wheel
Get a decent exhaust/airflow system

looks clean mate. no point retrimming original seats etc as you can get heated leather cavvy/calibra seats for 100 in good condition. and your car has a airbag so itll be a pain trying to get that on i think. i know on the civics if you put aftermarket wheel on the airbag light keeps on.also the gsi steering wheel is bigger. would suggest a sportex box and straight through cheap enough off ebay. and also get a sports panel air filter and drill/de restrict the air box. the cone filters are p*sh until you get to about a 1.4 upwards.

Prior to fitting the gsi steering wheel im going to get an electronics engineer from work to measure the resistance of the air bag with a multimeter then fit an inline resistor to trick the ecu into thinking the airbag is still there so the light will go out, plus if i ever want to put the original steering wheel back on it will be simple to put it back to how it was.

Ive also managed to source a pair of irmy skirts which will break the silver up a bit.

The leds are from www.lightec-autostyle.co.uk cost me a little over a tenner and i got leds for the mfd, dash & heater controls as well as a 6 led festoon bulb and they threw in a set of white led sidelights... i have a couple of discount vouchers from them so if anyone wants to get some send us a pm and ill send you the discount code :)

As for cav/calibra leather, i do like it, but everyone puts them in and i want something a little different, with having them retrimmed i have choice of type of leather, colour of stitching ect. Might even go half leather half suede to match the headlining.

Fitted leather gearstick/handbrake gaitors the other day too, looks miles tidyier now..
