Whats up guys.
New to forum as i've just inherited a 1996 1.4 8v corsa as a first car. Been driving it 3 months now and I've replaced the head unit with a sony cdx-gt25 (un-amped at the moment).
I've also replaced the stock fronts as they were crackling with 17cm FLI 210w Coxial speakers.
First question is should these be amped?
Second question is the sound from the right speaker cuts out after about 2 mins of playing and 'FAILURE' is displayed on the HU. (Using the sony head unit, the stock right speaker was fine.) And the left speaker loses sound quality around a volume setting of +25. All connections into the HU are flush so any ideas on this one? The only thing that brings it back is to disconnect and reconnect the speaker.
I'm going to switch the speakers when i get home tonight to check if the speakers are faulty from the factory - will update with findings.
Thanks in advance.

Re: SOUND CUTTING OUT FROM FRONT RIGHT SPEAKER
Thanks for response.
The speakers didnt work all today. I disconnected the left one...still no sound (dont know why i thought this would work), i took the right off but didnt disconnect. Played around with on-off combinations with ignition, it came on, put it back in, played with on offs again, still working, went for a drive, kept stopping, opening the door and playing with on off, still working, connected second one back up, full sound, did the same thing, went for a drive, blasted it, still working.....so yeah, i didnt disconnect the right speaker, its come on and stayed on. just gotta fix rad and windows now.
Incase it happens again, i'll probably rewire with the wires that came with the speakers. Do you have any links to or tips on rewiring? I've had a poke around but cant work it out

Re: SOUND CUTTING OUT FROM FRONT RIGHT SPEAKER
are you using the speaker adaptors that come with the fitting rings?
i put these in mine and one of the wire adaptors was faulty it seems to be quite common, i cut off the plus in the door and crimped spade connectors directly to the wire then just slot onto the speaker terminal. since doing this ive had no issues.
hope that helps
