Bringing the car into my mechanic 2mora for him to get a good look over it all.

Mechanic is geting a look at it today when chatting to him, he right away suspected water leaking into the cylinder's this was the reason why when trying to start the car, it would stop dead without starting.

it would also explain geting white gunk so quick after cleaning it out. also explains some minor steam from the exhaust and the loss of coolant.

he thinks the head might not have been tightened down correctley, and said he would try and tighten it first to see if it helps. and if not he will have to take a further look.

sounds like a major problem, but at least it sounds like something that can be fixed.

Mechanic got the head bolts tightened down a bit more but said that they felt Funny.. and he used a washed on one of them for it to bite.
he said it could go at any moment and he wont know untill he inspects the head itself and if its worth fixing or what the problem is.

at this stage, with the money put into the car, scrapage is not an option. the parts are good. worse case its gona need new head gasket, and the head is gona need another skim. or if its warped etc its gona need a new head. the timing and the rest of the work done was fine. so i know the lower part of engine is good working order. its just a shame the gasket / head is playing up or it woulda been 100% !

but eh, thats life, learn from your mistakes.

thats bad luck mate. hope its nothing too expensive. could be just gasket, better of spending a few quid extra on genuine one next time :)

yea i think genuine for some of the parts mighta been that wee bit better, but the head gasket i got looked almost idendical to the old one ( 2 bits of metal ) and the rest of the gaskets in the kit fitted perfect.

i think the probelm was i didnt use the tool to give the correct pounds of presure per bolt, done by hand, it was an oversight and il know for next time. (learnt the hard way)

fact is il not know for sure untill mechanic takes a good look. im hoping its just a bad gasket and at worst just needs another quick skim.

I hate not knowing things !!!!

we all have to learn from our mistakes at the end of the day.. did you not tighten them down in sequence given either? cause if you didnt you could have creased the head gasket or even warped head or block

well the above realy doesn't matter when you just tighten them by hand, thats wayy too loose..

Well every one can make a mistake, don't let it happen twice.

I know, it sucks that i never used the torque wrench the bolts but that time is gone now :( I'm just hoping mechanic comes back with good news. And that it can be fixed. It's gona suck if the head or block is warped I really hope it hasn't come to that. Il not know untill early next week ;(

Well they say bad things come in threes,,

my girlfriend rang me at just after 1:30 today, to let me know that some stupid woman drove into the front passanger side of our new Toyota, wreaking the bonet, lower bumper, and breaking the headlight mount, yet the headlight didnt smash, not sure if the side panel needs replaced or not. Il upload some pics as soon as i can.

GF was on a roundabout making an exit on the 4th exit, had the indicators on etc and was in the Right.
woman tried to join the roundabout and drove straight into my GF. The woman admited she was in the wrong.
Quick call to were we bought the car sorted everything out. our car came with 12months Honda Warentee, they will be fixing the car for free, no excess to pay, bypassing our insurance and claiming any money off the woman, we get a courtsey car while the Toyota is in geting fixed.

Just cant be assed with the added stress and hasle of it all. I think i know were all the bad luck is coming from tho...

Its Friday the 13th coming up and when we were building the corsa engine in my mates uncles garage, it wasnt untill day 4 i looked up at the wall of the garage and noticed an upside down horse shoe, which if you know is bad luck.

Oh by the way ...

i few posts ago before i done the reubuild there was a rattle coming from around the driver side as if from behind the speed dials. well after the rebuild the rattle is gone. so either there was something loose, or something we took out, or he did happen to drop water pump bolt down a hole that droped behind the driver wheel arch and when removing the plastic wheel trim arch to get the bolt that might have cleard a stone or something. IDK what fixed it, but its fixed.
