Engine warning light - problems!

Post by Louie_22 »

Hi,

Sorry if this has already been posted, ive looked through pages and not found anyone yet who had the same problem.
Well where do I begin...

My car has had its engine warning light on for the past year at least, well I was hopin this could be rectified when I took it for MOT and service, unfortunately it was sorted they just put it under an advisory notice. Sorted all the other problems which car failed on MOT still not sorted. I replaced my mass air flow meter quite a while ago as other one wouldn't le me go more than 50 mph. Replaced and sorted. I replaced with another one about 6 months later and realising the other day, this wasn't for my car still for corsa but not a 1.0 which mine is. I have replaced with the correct one (280 217 123) Now he car won't start at all! But to make the last MAF (before new one) work I had to tinker with the throttle cable to make it work.
NOTE: to make my current car driveable I have to turn the ignition, then put my foot on the gas, just to start the engine. Now I have to wait a couple of minutes for the car to warm up before I can drive, otherwise it makes a ticking noise and won't let me go faster than 10mph. Then whilst driving, I put my foot on the car and it jugs forward when gas is pressed then it goes ok. So changing gear is annoying. And also caused many drinks spillages!
If any one has taken the time to read this I am grateful and any advice would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

my friend had a similar problem, his would just die if it met a slight inclimb, he changed the crank sensor and the EGR valve but it also sounds like there is some issue with the idle sensor, ive had engine light on my 1.2 for a while and ive had to change the oxygen sensor on the manifold, other than that i havent got much else to say buddy
