blue corsa b

Post by bomzer »

Hey guys, I'm new to the driving, only passed my test on 28'th of december, and on sunday (10.02.13) I've "purchased a vehicle" a little 1 litre corsa b! I hope this will be a good car, and hope it will be interesting for you to follow :)

I was planning to buy a black "2000" sxi, in the town nearby, I was away to see it on saturday morning with my friend. Although on sunday the car was gone! :(

So I went on gumteree and found 2000 1l corsa b, which was quite far away from me! I got my dad to give me a lift to the place, and after an hour and a half of driving we were there!
The car I seen was perfect! And after a "test drive by me and my dad the car was mine!
***
The advantages of it:
There's no visible rust, nowhere on the outside of the car! (There's little under the bonnet, but you can't see it)
77.000 miles (to be honest I wouldn't really care even if it was 100.000 miles) but everybody says that its really good!
Colour of the car, when I seen the advertisement I thought that it's the uglyest colour of corsa ever (its non metalic dark blue (don't really know how to explain that colour) although every day I fall more and more in love with the colour of it!
The car is really clean (I usually spent at least a day when my parrents bought their cars, cleaning the interior)
Cheapest insurance I've ever found for my name (it's only £2.300) for a 19 year old 1ith 2 months of having license!!!
And last but not least it has full year's mot!

Disadvantages:
I don't really like the black bumpers that are on it
Front bumper was hit before, so there is a piece of about 10x10 cm that's broken off (you can't really see it, but it's still annoying)
No road tax (although maybe that's an advantage)
It has "mg-rover" cd player (so will need to spend a bit of money to get something that could play some "tunes")
And steeleys (I don't really mind steeleys, but duh, alloys seem more fancy)
***
I had plenty of fun of driving the car back home, I stalled couple of times in the town (I'm used to drive diesel cars, passat, citroen c3 (driving instructor's car) and of course I haven't really been driving in 2 months) however on the motorway I tested the car to the maximum! And to me it was the best experience ever! (I don't think anything can "beat" the feeling of new car, especially if it's your first car)
As well as that, I must say the car is really economic! I filled it up for only £20 and it still haven't used a half of that!
After coming home and having a "wee" dinner, couple of my friends came over (lads own the corsa's too, 4 door corsa b, and corsa c)
And that's when I faced the problems with the car first! It just wouldn't start :(
After a "little push" it was on the road again!
My mates said that I've definately got a "bargrain" and that it's in really good condition.

The car Is mine for 4 days now, and I'm reappy happy with it so far, although today I was away to do a bit of cleaning and polishing of bumpers, and the batery died again :( so I had to call my mate and after a bit of pushing "she was flying again" :)

The plans for the car:
*Bbs rs (replica's) I know replica's aren't that good and all but, oh well, they would do for the start!
*Coilovers (I've got a bit of fetish for low cars)
*Sxi spoiler (not really sure about it to be honest, most of corsa's seem to have them nowdays, want to be different)
*some kind of splitter would be handy (will look lower, and will look better)
*New front bumper has to be bought (the crack is annoying)
*thinking about painting all car same colour (bumpers, trims, everything... All black plastic stuff must be gone)
*and if I will win lotery (lol) recaro interior and brown suede. (***even the dash***) and get as much "wood" as possible (had a pleasure of owning a broken "lexus ls 400" which had brown leather and red wood, so I still think it's the best combination for interior)

*** but again, I have to make it road legal, and fix the "baterry issue" first*** and then we can talk about the modifications :)

That's all so far! I will upload couple photos of the car tomorrow, as at the moment I'm posting from my phone

im from ballygawley (northern ireland) thats between Omagh and Dungannon where abouts are you from yourself sir?

a little update:
the corsa got bumpers polished after being washed in the river (like a wee horse lol)
my mate gave me a cb radio, which was sucessfully installed yesterday. unfortunatelly the tax book still haven't came in so she's still not road legal.
also i've talked to mechanic about the exhaust which should look like something like this: http://www.dvbcaraudio.co.uk/images/fkdeop611-1.jpg
the way it's planned the exhaust should be moved to the right hand side (the place in back bumper where the tow hook is) i don't really know is that sensible enough, as tow hook might needed.

p.s. sorry guys still no images

yea, coulda been a bit closer

the way it's planned exhaust should be sticking out of the bumper about 5-7cm. and the end of exhaust is tipped up at about 40 degrees, so think it'd be cool to take off the tow hook cover and tow hook itself, and put the exhaust there. not usre can you pass M.O.T. wit that though.

So hello there! friday night at 00:01 the litlle blue corsa became road legal, having a car is amazing, and I got really good news. My mate's dad is mechanic, and sometimes he buys cars to scrap them for a bit of money and to take parts.
So guess what?
I went to this friend of mine yestedray to give the corsa a little wash, and guess what's standing in my mates backyard??
Same corsa like mine but with colour-coded bumpers, sxi spoiler and nice black interior, (I've actually jizzed my pants when I seen it as I thought I will never find something like this) and it's all for scraping :@
So the idea is to put all the stuff I like onto my car
As well as that me and my mates are having a little photoshoot today and photos are to come :)

i didn't really succeed with bumpers, looked at them again today and they were rotten, (even worse than my broken off bumper) pieces at the front are missing and the front one is badly chipped. we took the spoiler off, but i forgot it at my mates :@ i thought about the interior, but dunno, i may stick with the gray (blue and green) "polka-dot". then just buy calibri interior.

ok, i guess i have all the tension built, the car isn't that clean as after "power-hosing" and waxing it in the dark there's too many stains, and the "back to black" washed off as well, shoulda had done that before taking photos but oh well.. gives me a reason to take more proper shots when she's clean :)

and here are the shots (unedited)

that's right, i shall invest in a set of coilovers, but wouldn't be done that soon as i spent £1250 on getting it on the road (insurance + tax) so the times are a bit tough on the funds and i need new battery which i hope to buy this week.

not sure about the alloys, i just don't know what i want, one minute i want them bbs reps (from other corsa on photos) another minute i think about "fan blades" on really low profile tires, then i think about 3 spoke corsasports, and there's an idea of banded steelies with some ridiculous offset and in matt that's creeping in my mind.
also found some boy who's selling a set of "coala's" wouldn't say that I'm a big fan of them but it would definitely make it one of a kind.
