Trying to install a CD player
Hi folks,
Got a 96 1.2 Corsa.
Just been given a CD player by a mate to replace the standard head unit. Its got the same connection on the back but when I plug it in the only button that does anything is the CD eject button (plus the players ambient lights come on when I switch the cars lights on). No other signs of life. My mate assures me it was in full working order when removed.
There is no manufacturer stated on the player but it does say its a model 2294 B which, from my bit of research, appears to come from a Renault.
Has the player likely died or is it a connectivity problem? Does the standard vauxhall connector differ to what is required and if so, can I buy an adapter?
Much appreciated,
Andy

Re: Trying to install a CD player
Hi Andy more than likely if it is from a Renault it is going to be a connection problem most manufacture stereos are designed for that particular electronical harness. Does it ave a harness that comes from the stereo or are the plugs in the back of the stereo
If it ain't green and black send it back

Re: Trying to install a CD player
Hi, the stereo has a standard 3 block connector in 1 block (if that makes sense!) built into the back of both the Renault CD player & the original Vauxhall radio. The block from my wiring loom fits perfectly but when you look at the block face, doesnt have as many active connections as are on the back of the Renault player, ie no metal connector in each hole so that made me think that the connector may be the problem.
Ive seen block to ISO connectors on Ebay but dont think theyre what Im looking for.
Thanks, Andy

Ye sounds like the Renault one works on a different system than its but u can get really cheap stereos off ebay or gumtree so i wud consider them as it wont cost much difference as to getting that one work and will also a better out put aswell

If you plug the original radio back in does it work?
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Yep, the original radio still works so my money is on different connections. Dont fancy chopping the wires so if an adapter doesnt exist, probably just get a new unit. Thanks, Andy
