Unresponsive?

Post by BigBenson14 »

Just put my Corsa B 1.2 16v through an MOT, it failed first time but managed to get it through after doing some repairs over the weekend. My mechanic come back to me and said that 'there's something not quite right with it, it doesn't drive how it's supposed to'.

Now i hadn't actually noticed until he said so, but it feels like sometimes it's really unresponsive, sluggish is probably a better word, particularly in 1st.

It's not bothering me too much (as of yet) it's just a little concerning, i've got a full service kit coming in the post so i'll do that this weekend and i'm gonna see if that changes anything. If it doesn't then i'm stuck for answers

Has anyone else experience this/know what's wrong?

How sluggish? Need alot more detail tbh?
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Not really tbh:lol: there's hundreds reason it could do that, to much air, to much petrol, an air leak there the most common but like it could anything:lol: that's why so much detail is needed over the interweb as I can't hear/see/touch it

I'm going to do some more investigating this weekend, but i'm not sure how else to describe it.

I've got a knock as well i don't know if it's got anything do with it? that occurs when i accelerate or change gear, sounds like the engines knocking against the bulk head so i'm thinking that's just an engine mount, but it's worth mentioning i guess!

It's mainly in first gear the sluggishness, when i get to 2nd/3rd the cars a lot better. Could it be the throttle body itself, clogged up with sh** maybe? It's not a drive by wire throttle i don't think so it shouldn't be anything electrical, and i don't have an engine management light on or anything so i'm really not sure.

I might try get a video tomorrow see if that will shed any light for you guys!

Sorry for the vague replies, and thank you for you continuous help! :D

Yeah clean the throttle body with some carb cleaner

I know it's hard to explain some problems but it's as hard to diagnose the problems:lol:

Well I cleaned the throttle body and gave it a service today (got an early finish from work woop!) and it seems to have solved the unresponsive problem, it must just have been clogged full of rubbish! Thanks for you help fella's :D
