starting problems for my corsa b combo van

Post by woodley2010 »

i have a Corsa b combo van and having problems starting it, for instance i went out yesterday i done a hour and half drive then i stopped to put some diesel in my van stopped no longer then 5 mins, and then the van decided to not start , so i had to bump start the van with help of the forecourt staff , i left my van after i got home for 5 plus hours and the van started first time , this is not the only time these starting problems have occurred , i had a mobile mechanic out today to see if he could fix it , he put 3 of the same type of computers to the battery all different makes to test where the problems lye's and the computers all read the exactly the same 75-100% power in the battery the same percentage power going to the battery from the alternator and no loose wires, can anyone help me as this is my only vehicle that i use and i am self employed gardener so this van is essential to me.

many thanks Woodley

I'm guessing crank shaft sensor. Symptoms sound similar (starting and not starting randomly). Think they're only twenty or so quid. Be worth a crack..

They won't always show an engine management light on the dash too. Mine didn't when it went

If its the old izzuz engine check the fuel cut off solinoid. The 1.7d has no ecu or engine light. Proper old school engine. Always worth checking glow plugs too

Nope, proper mechanical engine with no electronics to f**k up, battery powers the starter, lights and not much else [emoji38]

That been said it's one of 3 things i) power ii)fuel iii) spark

Since its not spark and probably not power but worth checking the battery to be sure, it's more than likely a fuel issue
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

75% is 9 volts, thats not enough to start a car

Alternator only kicks in after starting so it's irrelevant atm

What's the voltage on the battery?
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

I used to think 10/11 amps would start a car till I did a bit of work on my mum 1.8 tddi focus and it would not start after a few days of being on the drive. Thought I had nakered somethin at first! Long story short tried jumpin from one of those portable starters then my car with no luck still thought it was f**k.. Threw my dads shogun on it boom fired up straight away. It's takes a fair wack to get them diesels started more than you would think.

Have you tried to snatch start it?
