im the new owner of a 2.0 turbo corsa
i picked it up yesterday and bloody hell they are fast. mine is running about 310 bhp, but driving home had a slight problem, put it into fifth going along and then bang, it fell out of gear and i lost the gear completely, had 1-4 but it was making a horrible rattling noise from inside the engine down by the gearbox. pulled over, got it toed to vauxhall, and now waiting for them to work on it, cant believe it, does anyone know why i would just lose a gear driving along? it wont go in fifth at all now.
other than that, its a beast.its based on a gsi, may have seen it for sale on eBay,
cheers guys

The F20 isn\'t desinged to take 310BHP and it died a death, best get a F28 6spd box in there now.

Gearbox might have been low/empty on oil or the linkage might have been badly adjusted.
Vauxhall would have been the last place I\'d take it to tbh, there\'s no point trying to fix that gearbox, just get another F20 from ebay or similar and have it fitted.
If that\'s happened on your first journey then the seller knew about it. I lost 5th gear in similar style, but that was due to me abusing it. Even then I was still able to get into 5th for a few more times until it went completely.
If you want to go up to the F28, it\'s not an easy conversion in the Corsa. You\'ll need to modify it to lock in 2WD, then modify the gearbox mount and possibly also the tiebars to get it to fit. J1400 might have more of an idea.
Then you\'ll need another clutch...
Best thing to do is see if anyone\'s selling an F28 that\'s already been converted for a Corsa and try and get the other parts that go with it.

Not that well looked after if the gearbox has pulled itself apart after a few miles use.

I always get recovered home then I\'ve can organise repairs in my own time. Otherwise you\'re just dumping it at the closest garage that\'ll charge you the earth.

never ever re fit an f20, they will keep on blowing up time and time again.
f28 isnt that hard to fit if anything its no harder than fitting the engine in with an f20

The F28\'s not a direct fit into the Corsa though.

aye, but it goes in no bothers
front gearbox mount, correct clutch as the imput shaft is different number of splines and also need to shorten the linkage that goes to the selector on the gearbox. also a part of the f20 as the diff oil seal where the transfer box used to go
to actually fit it, it does go in abaolutely no bothers at all

MTech couldn\'t fit the F28 into the Corsa - that\'s why they came up with the conversion kit.
Also, a couple of top Vauxhall tuners said it wouldn\'t fit so Pete @ PVD got the MTech kit for C3.
I\'ve never fully understood what the problem with getting the gearbox in was, but then I don\'t concern myself with spanner jobs lol.

the gearbox fits in fine though???????
an m-tec conversion kit is just a gearbox mount. the box is just as easy to fit as an f20

I don\'t understand em either. Like I said, I don\'t worry about the whys and hows - I\'ve just always been under the assumption that it needs messing about to fit.

In that case the guy with the LET needs to sort the F28 sharpish!
Vauxhall have said he\'s got a years warranty with the new gearbox but I don\'t see how they\'ll honour it when fitting it to an engine that\'ll tear it apart!
