Re: Project: Bessie
thats all sorted now along with the problem of the swaybar constantly hitting the exhaust, the swaybar on the 5 door wasnt as thick as the one from the combo, so I simply swapped them over. Problem solved.

Nice job with Bessie.
Where did you manage to find a boss kit for the steering wheel? Is it an Autotecnica?
Cheers

Re: Project: Bessie
Hi, yeah it is an Autotechnica one, though I wouldn't say they're quality, after nearly a year of my driving i've got up & down movement on the steering wheel (guess I should slow down) If you are after a steering wheel i'd suggest looking into importing a R1 or R2 steering wheel, i'm gonna do that for the 5 door.
Sorry about the late reply btw, I got an xbox360 recently & i've been on that on my spare time.

Re: Project: Bessie
The simplest mod to do to a Combo is fit Barina/Corsa mirrors, they look alot better than the massive caravan towing mirrors, just make sure you buy a stickon blind-spot mirror & maybe electric mirrors (if you can find em & wire em in)

I wouldn't say too much, but it does take a bit of getting used to.OZChris wrote: Cheers Mobi, how badly is the rear vision blocked/impaired by changing to Barina mirrors?

Re: Project: Bessie
Nah, I threw em out they were worn too much & wouldve cost a fortune to recover, I kept the tracks off em though.

Re: Project: Bessie
The stock seats are in it, although I have a pair of Autotechnica recliners for the 5 door (they need brackets made up though, as they mount from underneath) Bessie is sort of undergoing a change in the coming months when I take my holidays, i'm getting my spare top end rebuilt, changing the interior over to a grey one (dash included, I still dont understand why Combos had black dashs' with grey everything else) & sorting the rust/dents.
Also, if you do plan on driving quite fast (for a 1.4 atleast) i'd suggest bigger wheels with better rubber, I run my 16" Astra wheels on it atm & they help when the weight distribution goes a bit pear-shaped on corners.

Pics soon, it's been dark when I get home.Mobi wrote:any pics yet?
It's got GSi front seats (needing recovering/replacing); Astra F front brakes; Barina SRi 16" wheels; needs a little attention at the moment Looks like some work needed to get it registered again.
