hay all the cars got a few problems
basically since i put a racing sencter secton and back box, ive had a problem with a pinking sound, every time you give it some throttle, i get this noise, only happens under full load but not under light throttle, and its funny as when the car is cold it does not have this noise and i have a rocket ship for a car, but when the car gets warm it looses all this power and then ends up having this pinking noise,
anyone got any ideas what could be the problem?
and does anyone know wether if putting a re ported inlet manifold on the car, putting an induction kit on, and putting a full exhaust system would need the car to run at different timing?
coz the noise is like pre ignition
also i get a nasty vibration, again nothing when cold, car gets hot and im sitting in traffic and a really nasty vibration starts, dont last very long, and it also happens when driving, but its so bleedin tempremental, ive had the car up in the air and i think its coming from the exhaust manifold, as tho the deflector plait in the manifold has split or something
anyone had any problems like this before?

the engine has sensors to stop preignition so it may just be raspy in the exhaust?

nah aint a raspy exhaust
what it sounds like is is is well weared, its a noise like pinking, and really is pissing me off because its making everyone look at my car not because of the nice exhaust note but because of the bloody jack hammer i got knocking around in my exhaust note.
and i got a bleedin crazy vibration thats driving me nutts which i'll solve on saturday one way or another.
ok well let me think about this pinking noise, its like if your car has a missfire you kow the noise it makes when you rev it that horrid noise, well its not as horid and it aint got a missfire.
im thinking it might be timming now, im going to have to strip the timing cover off and have a looksy as it started not to long after i got the car and it had a cam belt not to long before i baught the car (about 200 miles before i baught it)
maybe the tensioner had given up and it jumped one tooth on the inlet.
i did do a compression test recently and it was running at 298 psi per cylinder straight accross the boared with no leak off which means the rings are good, i dont know if this is hight for the X14XE engine but i work on fords so they run around 150 - 220 psi,
i hope someone can shed some light on this for me as its driving me nuts
