Lowering - Looking for some advice

Post by alpha350 »

Hi All,

New to the forum and looking for a bit of advice please. I have a 1.2 LS R Reg - Basically im looking into getting some new alloys and lowering my car. Although cant decide how low/what size wheels would look best. - (aiming for the Euro look - eventually! not really done much yet, just de-badged and fitted de-badged grill) Got 13"s at the moment with crappy seat alloys lol (on when i bought the car) At first I thought 15"s with some deep dish alloys and lowered 40mm - but now thinking maybe keep the 13"s with deep dish alloys and lower 60mm?? :?

Does anyone have any opinions on what would be better? Also want to keep it practical (lots of speedbumps near me) so dont want it to low that it catches bumps and dont want to have to do any arch mods or anything like that - it's also usually just me and the gf in the car so not usually much weight in the back (dunno if that makes much difference? Very new to all this!)

Anyway if anyone can offer any advice it would be very much appreciated!

Cheers

well at the end of the day its just personnal prefference i got 15's and its lowered 60mm at the front and 40 at the back and the wheels sit level with the arches almost, looks nice. euro style is nice when decked on 13's so thats how i would have it, but like you said its not very practical, also i cant get many people in the back so the less the better or else there is rubbage lol

if you get a pair of alloys say off a vaux which have the perfect offset you wont have to worry about scrubbing, i think you want e39 offset??

well euro style does require you to slam it on it's arse but....13"'s are more for polo's and old golfs but 13"'s dont fill the arches on a corsa and can look poo. i'd say what matey boy said ghet some wheels with the correct offset and you can have 15"'s (fill the arches nicely) and still drop it 60mm or even more so!!!! I have cavalier wheels on mine which are 15" and iv'e lowered it 40mm all the way round .But this still leaves me room to drop 70mm all the way round if i wanted (future plan)
Matt Neal for the championship ....woo off to thruxton next sunday !!!

Ok, cheers guys. Yeah, pretty sure I will go with 15"s - that was the plan and then someone suggested 13"s would look better. But think it's got to be 15"s :)
