Corsa engine conversion

Post by axvts »

Hey i'm new on here so sorry if this has been covered before, you'll have to post me a link cos i cant find alot on it.
Basically i used to own a corsa b, it was my 1st car and was pretty cool except i decided to get something faster as it was only a 1ltr. I'm now thinking about getting another although it has to be fast. I met a guy once that had a turbo redtop which was mental and then on the same night some guy turned up in one that had a v6 lump. They both absolutley flew although there wasn't alot of difference in speed between them but I'm thinking either of those engines would be pretty cool to drop in.I wanna know which is easiest to get parts for and fit and which one is cheapest basically?

C20LET is the 2 litre turbo engine you would have seen its a common conversion and kits are available http://www.lmfvauxhall.co.uk/store/home.php?cat=1620
Where it says type 1 or type 2 corsa means pre or post 1997 as they were changed slightly in 1997.
The kits are expensive but if you search the internet i'm sure you will be able to find a guide and that show you where you can get the parts from cheaper or made yourself. try searching http://www.migweb.co.uk the guys there are very good.

The question about the V6 was asked on here not that long ago and basicaly that is a very rare conversion because it will ony just fit and that is with a lot of work, I think there are only a handfull of V6 corsas in the country.

Ok then. The 2.0 sounds like the one tbh. What about wiring and getting dials etc to work? Is that all plug and play or do i need to modify the engine loom and change other things? Like the fuel pump?
Cheers

I'm no expert on this ive never done one myself but ive read alot of posts here: http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/engines-transmission/
Your best bet would be to post in that forum.

I do know that.
You will need the engine loom from the donor car and obviously the ECU, remember if you took it from a car with an immobisiler you will need the chip from the key and the transponder ring from the ignition barrel to.

It should all just plug into the corsa no problems and yes you need the fuel pump with the engine aswell and don't forget the intercooler.
Also you will need to do a bit of strengthening so it cope with the extra weight and torque, uprated brakes, I think drive shafts are an issue, and the gear linkage will need modifying.
