Wiring amp and sub
Ok, one of my friends gave me his old amp and sub with a gang of cables only thing is i have no idea what to do. Im hoping someone can help or point me in the direction of a tutorial ??
Any way i have the amp, sub and 4 wires... these wires are
a big thick red one with a big plastic shell nearer one end (might be the fuse)??
a long grey one with red and white audio connectors
a thick brown one with copper exposed at both ends
and a thin blue one with copper exposed at both ends.
He says he thinks everythings there... Can anyone help ?
Cheers

a big thick red one with a big plastic shell nearer one end (might be the fuse)-power run this from ur battery to the power feed on ur amp. yes its for the fuse.
a long grey one with red and white audio connectors- like u say audio connectors, run this from the back of ur head unit tour amp.
a thick brown one with copper exposed at both ends - earth, run this from the earth on ur amp to an earth on the car.
and a thin blue one with copper exposed at both ends- remote, connect this to the remote wire on the back of ur headuniit and the remote connection on ur amp.
then connect ur amp to ur sub shud be two wires from the sub to the amp.
then all u need do is hide the wires.
hope this helps.

Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts
Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

Re: Wiring amp and sub
red one is ur power cable it needs to be connected straight to ur battery. the plastic end with the fuse should be at the battery end.
the thick brown one is your earth this can be attached to any bit of clean metal
the thin blue one is the remote cable this turns the amp on then the headunit is on ( this should be connected to the think blue cable at the back of the headunit)
the grey cable is the rca leads these send the signal from the headunit to the amp so it plays music (these should be connect into the connecters behind the head unit, just match the colours)

Re: Wiring amp and sub
hi, thanks for such quick and detailed replies but im a little confused as to where the wires go in the headunit an amp wise... My friend had 2 headunits and he gave me the one which he "thought" was the right one... I say thought cause i dont think im going to have enough places to plug in the cables, Ive uploaded photos of both the amp and headunit, am i right in thinking hes given me the wrong one ?

Re: Wiring amp and sub
u need the wiring harness that attaches the headunit to the corsa loom.
the harness will have the blue cable you need to join into and will also have the rca outputs

Re: Wiring amp and sub
about a tenner iirc but you need one that is going to fit into ur headunit or just buy another headunit that comes with the wires
