Oil Change

Post by ianinnes »

I know that these questions will depend on individual choice, but here goes:

What is the best oil to use in my high mileage '99 1.2 16V ?

What are the best spark plugs to use ?

I look forward to trawling through all the answers !

i work at a petrol station and castrol magnetic 10w-40 seems to be very popular at the moment as it sticks to the engine, but very expensive. as for spark plugs, i aint entirely sure. but DENSO iridium seems to be a favourite aswell as NGK :)

Thanks for all your replies.
However, I read somewhere recently that I would be better going back to a mineral oil rather than a semi-synthetic because of the high mileage on my heap - 97k. Also someone has suggested I go for a 15w40 as opposed to a 10w40 as the oil is thicker.
Anyone any thoughts on this?

Dont go to vauxhall, they'll charge you 8 times more than anyone, rob your shoes and tell you they've cleaned the MAF for £200 lolol.

OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

i would stick with the 10w40, if you have money to blow then go for the dearest you can find, i'd go for 15 to 20 notes myself, and i think the quality is somewhat outwayed by regular changing , my oil comes out still looking nice after every oil change, think every six months or 5000 miles is recomended, pretty sure GM oil is just a rebranded american comma oil which meets the dexos specs, my netto (i know, dont take the micky lol) oil was mobil which guess what, is comma oil rebranded, in fact mercedese oil is just a mobil rebranded, its a a can of worms but if you hit the price in the middle you should be ok. (ps, i just bought a double air bed from lidle for £9:99 and its better than anything on the net for 15 to 20 ( waiting for matty to take the piss lolol)
